Ingredients

• 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
• ½ cup sugar, divided
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 1 stick unsalted butter, cold and cut into ½” squares
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 ½ pounds cherries (or any summer fruit!), pitted and drained
