These Southern beef steaks smothered in a rich savory gravy are perfect served Cajun-style: over steamed white rice with a dash or two of hot sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ - 2 lbs “gravy steak” such as top sirloin, round steak, chuck steak, beef tips, top sirloin, or cube steak
- 2 tablespoons Fat Granny Cajun seasoning, divided
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons (½ stick) unsalted butter
- 1 large onion, finely diced
- 1 medium green pepper, finely diced
- 1 stalk celery, finely diced
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- ⅓ cup Sherry cooking wine
- 3 cups beef stock
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3-4 dashes hot sauce, such as Louisiana or Crystal, as desired for heat
- Steamed rice
