- 3-4 cups vegetable oil for deep frying
- 16 medium size oysters, shucked and drained
- 2-3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1¼ teaspoons salt
- ¾ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 loaf of Mammas Bread (see recipe) or a store-bought 6-7 inch (15-18 cm) round Italian bread
