- 1.2kg beef chuck steak, trimmed, cut into 3cm pieces
- 2 tblsps plain flour
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 3 onions, sliced
- 2 tblsps fresh thyme leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tblsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tblsps traditional gravy powder
- ¼ cup boiling water
- 1½ cups beef stock
- 300g flat mushrooms, halved, thickly sliced
- POTATO TOPPING
- 650g Sebago potatoes, peeled
- 25g butter, melted
